Jonas and Gabriel's escape from the community was successful. However as their journey continued, they faced hunger, pain, fear and wild life. Towards the end of their journey Jonas and Gabriel were hungry, cold and scared. Jonas was able to get to the top of a hill. The snow was thick and the weather was cool. Jonas found a sled at the top of the hill. Jonas and Gabriel got on it and began sledding down the hill. Jonas was about to lose consciousness as he tried to stay upright on top of the sled while holding on to Gabriel. The sled sliced through the snow and the wind was whipping their faces. He opened his eyes as they went downward.
